BML Report PART 2 Empty
PostSubject: BML Report PART 2   BML Report PART 2 EmptySun Jun 24, 2007 6:13 pm

16. Washington Redskins
upsides: Picked up a great HB and even though Portis was gone, Alexander is an excellent upgrade. Houshmanzedeh gives Brunell someone to throw to and even though Moss is gone, Housh will be a more than suitable replacement. Upgraded the O-Line with Steve Hutchison being added. Made some nice pickups for DE’s. Ellis will prove to be better than Carter.

downsides: Should have spent time upgrading the DT spot. Suffering at ROLB. Would have been nice to see an improvement on SS.

17. Jacksonville Jaguars
upsides: Got rid of loose ends on the team that weren’t that necessary (ex. Fred Jones and David Garrard). Has a stable and young offensive line. Gave Leftwich a weapon and should prove to be more of a team asset with the acquirement of Deion Branch. Had a good draft and forethought was made to get Willis fit into a starting position. Revis will develop as a great CB especially since he’s starting behind Mathis. He fits into this role very well.

downsides: Lost Mike Peterson which hurt on the run-defense, didn’t make any improvements to cope with the loss of Henderson. Wilkerson is getting old and a problem with the d-line will develop if Wilkerson retires next year.

18. Seattle Seahawks
Upsides: Very nice pickup of SS Roy Williams, really anchors the pass defense very well. Also has some very nice additions on the defensive line. Darwin Walker, Patrick Kerney and Darren Howard were all gotten at good times and really should help out their defensive skills. Jon Runyan provides good support to the Seahawks O-Line and makes it even more potent than it already is, him in combination with Jones should prevent almost any DE’s from reaching the QB. Cato June also was a nice pickup especially considering the great season he’s coming off of.

downsides: Lost Shaun Alexander in the process, really hurt especially with the upgraded o-line. Should have spent more time thinking about their WR’s. Hasselback’s getting older and losing his stuff so it might be in his best interest to deal him off.

19. San Diego Chargers
upsides: Got better at WR, gave some weapons for Rivers to throw to. Added A LOT of veterans to their squad (Glenn, McGinest, Strahan, Rolle). Compensated for the loss of his players. Got good replacements for Jammer and Tomlinson. Portis is fairly young and will prove to have been a good addition to the team. Jake Grove provides a solid Center. Their LB’s show good promise. Has got a tremendous backup in Jordan. He’s used to the role of backup as he played it for about half of his career.

downsides: Lost out on the MVP. Could find themselves in trouble in the future when their veterans begin to retire. Got worse at LB but if Odoyele develops into a good ILB he can anchor them.

20. Houston Texans
upsides: Got a lot of good players late in the draft. Held on to virtually all of his star players and still managed to squeeze a lot of picks out of what he had. Acquired a veteran SS who always seems to maintain consistency. Considered a young team and will show great progression in the future

downsides: drafted for ability instead of needs. Could have picked up a better QB.

21. Philadelphia Eagles
upsides: Acquired some youth. Managed to alter the roster to fit Bunkley into the starting role so he can develop better. Kept a strong set of LB’s. Howard was a very nice pickup. Held onto the team leaders such as McNabb, Trotter and Dawkins and acquired others who can still do well.

downsides: Put a gamble in getting Maroney, theres a chance he could not improve much. Lost some youth on the offensive line. Struggles with DE’s due to the both Kearse and Cole being traded away. Shepphard was also a tough loss.

22. Green Bay Packers
upsides: Still have their franchise QB, kept offensive playmakers that have proved loyal to the team. Added Berrian to the receiving core. Has good LB’s now that Ian Gold has been added. Shows great potential on the defensive side.

downsides: Should try getting a 3-4 defense, Thomas is getting old and Williams would probably fit into it better since he’s a great pass-rusher.

23. St. Louis Rams
Upsides: hasn’t lost out on any key players. For the positions he did lose, he got suitable replacements. Filled his needs in the draft and made some good choices.

downsides: hasn’t really made any big trades, hasn’t improved that much overall which could in turn hurt his playoff chances.

24. Buffalo Bills
upsides: managed to really improve their offensive line by adding Shane Olivea. Darrell Jackson was also a nice addition; he should prove quite valuable especially with Lee Evans who had a pretty sexy year. That Gives JP Losman some good options to throw to. Unfortunately lost Adrian Peterson but still got Jones-Drew who should prove to be a good starter.

downsides: Dealt away some key names (Aaron Schobel) and traded away Moss which wasn’t a smart move. Didn’t improve much on defense. Was a shame to lose Adrian Peterson, would have done well on the left side with Olivea providing solid blocking.

25. New England Patriots
upsides: kept their potent offense together, got rid of their older defensive players and managed to find more than suitable replacements for them. Julian Peterson is a great pass-rushing LB and Tatupu is a solid young MLB that always seems to put up good numbers. Filled holes with his draft picks.

downsides: lost out on their pass defense, Asante Samuel and Rodney Harrison were tough losses and he didn’t compensate for them.

26. Indianapolis Colts
upsides: Got rid of some players that were dragging the team down (ex. Corey Simon)

downsides: Lost Reggie Wayne which will stop them from using the dual threat receivers.

27. Minnesota Vikings
upsides: Got one of the most under-rated QB’s, now that David Carr has a decent line to back him up he should do pretty well. Devery Henderson has got a lot of potential in him and that potential will probably be brought fourth now that he’s in the #2 spot. Has a very good MLB now in Quarles.

downsides: Needs better offense, the HB’s aren’t looking too good. Needs a better #1 WR. Might get burnt by WR’s due to the CB’s not being up to standards. Really needs to improve on the teams overall defensive skills.

28. Detroit Lions
upsides: They’re doing pretty well at the DT position. Garcia was a good addition.

downsides: Offense is struggling. Kitna should have been dealt with Garcia being added. Need a better running game and the DE’s are also in need of improvement. Also could get burnt by receivers because his CB’s aren’t the greatest. Needs some big improvements on pass defense.

29. Kansas City Chiefs
upsides: Has a lot of depth at HB, kept a pretty good LB set-up.

downsides: Lost two of their veteran QB’s and one of the best HB’s in the league. Also lost the best TE Antonio Gonzalez. Lost their best offensive linesman (Brian Waters).

30. Cincinatti Bengals
upsides: Should have a better run-stop defense with Pat Williams and Sam Adams on the line. If his corners can stay healthy the Bengals will have a sufficient pass defense. Bodden is a capable CB as is Townsend.

downsides: Struggles at LB’s, god torn up at WR’s, went from one of the best in the league to the worst 5. Degraded at HB and got is gonna have a VERY difficult time moving the ball without Carson Palmer.

31. New York Jets
upsides: Got a good pass rushing OLB in Greg Ellis as well as a good pass rushing DE in Jevon Kearse.

downsides: Lost out on almost all of their star players, left their defense in shambles. Shows struggles in almost all offensive positions. Was a trainwreck during the offseason.

32. Chicago Bears
upsides: If Law can keep a good morale and prevent from bringing the defenses down, he will prove to be a nice choice for CB. Got some youth over Moose for receivers.

downsides: The defense is left in shambles. Offense hasn’t upgraded that much and is in need to. D-line has taken many large blows as well as the LB’s. Looks like after the 07 super bowl loss Chicago will be entering rebuilding mode.

Super Bowl Winners:
Cleveland Browns vs. Carolina Panthers
Cleveland Browns win 30-21
Super Bowl MVP: Ladainian Tomlinson

Regular Season MVP: Ladainian Tomlinson
-In a tight race between four candidates, LT will come out victorious, once again having a spectacular season and running behind one of the up-and-coming greatest O-Lines in the League.
MVP Consolation:
-Peyton Manning, having lost Reggie Wayne will finish second in the running for MVP.
-Chad Johnson will rack up the most receiving yards and most receiving TD's this season. Should do tremendously with Chad Pennington as his QB.
-Michael Vick, will get a lot of points in the poles for his running game (as he plays on a run-oriented team) and will still establish a semi-decent passing game as well.

by standings do you mean their records? Because I have the standings listed (from best to worst team) and its not that hard to find out the standings in each division from there

Wow. That Panthers are in the TOP 5 Power Rankings, and predicted to go to the Super Bowl. I like.
